Our Blog

I (Amanda) am the only contributor to this blog.  I doubt Andrew even reads it.  I hope to someday be able to share this blog with my little princesses as a record of their childhood.  I am a horrible photo taker, scrapbooker, and baby book record keeper, but I am always on-line, so this seems like a logical way for me to keep track of happenings in our lives.  The name of our blog comes from all three of our names (Amanda, Andrew and Autumn).  I have toyed with the idea of changing the blog name since Olivia’s name does not start with an “A”, but have decided that it is not worth the time to change it.  Plus Andrew and I are both A Walker’s, so that is enough for me.  Hopefully Olivia won’t feel left out of the A names someday.

Here is a little bit about each of us:

Amanda

I am Autumn and Olivia’s Mommy.  I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart.  I love to run and spend time outdoors (in the fall/winter/spring).  I am a fourth generation native Houstonian.  I am a fairly organized person who likes things neat and orderly (think closet organized by color and shirt sleeve length with all matching hangers).  This personality trait works well with my career choice – accounting.  I spend most of my work days messing around in excel and trying hard to keep my company records in perfect order.  I work for a health care company that was a former client of mine from my Big 4 accounting days.  I also love shopping (although I am trying to cut back) and all things fall (hence Autumn’s name).  I love to cook and am working on my baking skills.  I am also a Lifetime Weight Watchers Member and I swear by the lifestyle.  My goal in life is to raise my girls to be intelligent, strong, confident, and godly.  I hope to instill in them an attitude of service to others in all that they do.

 

Andrew

Andrew is a Tax Consulting Manager at a Big 4 accounting firm.  He works A LOT, but he also really enjoys his work.  Andrew also enjoys woodworking, beer, scotch, cigars, homebrewing beer, and of course spending time with his girls.  He recently started competing in triathlons to keep in shape and to attempt to beat his two best friends who also compete in triathlons.

 

Autumn

Autumn is a fun and easy going little girl.  She is our firstborn and the first grandchild on both sides of our family (so basically she is very spoiled).  She loves Minnie Mouse, Elmo, Abby Cadabby, slides, swimming, Princess Ariel, drawing and playing with her baby dolls.  She also loves cheese, frozen yogurt and cake pops.  Autumn has endless energy and would play all day and night if we would let her.  She has a great temperament and is a very "go with the flow" kind of girl.  She gets this from both Mommy and Daddy.  Autumn is a very sweet big sister. 

Olivia

Olivia, our littlest princess, was born on October 31st 2012, a Halloween baby.  She is a redhead like Mommy and big sister.  Olivia is also super easy going and a very "easy" baby.  She loves to eat milk, sleep and be held by Mommy or Daddy.

Cooper

Cooper is our real firstborn (if you’re not ONLY counting human babies).  He joined our family in October 2004 and has been the best dog I have ever had.  He spends his days lounging on the couch and occasionally chasing squirrels in our backyard or barking at the golfers.  His favorite food is Chick-fil-A nuggets.  He still sleeps with Mommy and Daddy although sometimes he hogs the covers and gets kicked out of bed.  Cooper is a "Velcro dog" and has to be wherever we are.  This means he is frequently sticking his head in our faces or laps to get our attention (this is so not annoying at all).  Cooper is a retired therapy dog.  He spent about a year in 2008/2009 visiting children and elderly patients in hospitals and hospice care.  Autumn calls Cooper her “bubba” and likes to feed him Greenies.
